Hi there,
We are fairly new to Miquon. we started using the Cuisenaire Rods with some other booklets and my dd6 loves learning this way, we are just starting the Orange book. It was clinched for me to use Miquon when I found this site, watched the video and read the idea and history of Miquon!
My ds11 could do with some help.He is good at mental math and currently uses Life of Fred and Teaching Textbooks, we are nearly finished TT and I’m not sure that we will keep on with it or not, still undecided. I am hoping to help ds with the CR also, playing around with multiplication and division games or challenges.I am hoping ds will benefit from helping his sister, he does his math in his head all the time and has a hard time showing his working out, but nearly always gets the right answer.
Does any one have an opinion or ideas on using CR with older kids?
What do people tend to move onto after Miquon?
CR was how I learnt as a child many years back and I remember really enjoying them, I still have a faded wooden set from my childhood.
Thanks ahead of time for your replies.
By the way, we are Australian.
Warmest Wishes.
